Jeff and I decided to make today a fun filled fall day and take advantage of the beauty and history of New England! We started our day out at Honey Pot Hill Orchards to do some apple picking, hayrides, petting zoo, pumpkins, apple cider, cider doughnuts, and caramel apples! It was a beautiful day!
After that, we drove to the near by Wayside Country Inn Store. Here they sell candy by the piece out of large glass containers and many different novelty items from years gone by, Jeff tried the old game and won a small plastic lion!
Just down the street is the old Grist Mill, which was the mill for the Pepperidge Farms (known for it's cookies!), the Martha-Mary Chapel, and the little one room school house that the nursery rhyme, Mary Had a Little Lamb, originated from ( the picture of the single bench is where Mary and her lamb sat during school). Henry Ford bought and renonvated these historic items. The Wayside Inn is also famous for Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who wrote many poems about the Wayside Inn and often frequented the Inn. There is so much history, it was fun to spend the day learning and enjoying the peacefulness of the countryside!
We ended our day at none other than the Olive Garden for the last day of they're never-ending pasta bowl! Enjoy the pictures and Happy Fall!
