Saturday.

Since Thanksgiving break is a few days away, I decided to take a few days off from school work. I finished tutoring for the semester and I'll that's left are a few classes and final papers. So, this weekend we went to the MIT museum. It had a lot of project's they've been working on, as well as some history of the school. They had an exhibit on Artificial Intelligence that was really interesting. And we really enjoyed the exhibit on Holograms! Enjoy the pictures!

Conference.

Last Thursday, I gave a paper on C.S. Lewis at a conference in downtown Boston. It was a big conference, but there weren't many people at my talk--but that could have been because two of the other panelists didn't show. Oh well. Here's a few pictures. Sorry some of them are blurry.

Jessica, the hippo.

Last night, I watched a documentary on Animal Planet about a guy who has been raising a hippo as a pet. I found these pictures on the Internet.

Plymouth, MA

What a beautiful day! It was about 70 degrees today and sunny, which makes for good site seeing weather. Jeff and I drove about an hour to Plymouth, MA today to look at the Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Plantation, and view the Mayflower II. It just so happens that our Nephew Micah is studying the Pilgrims in school and we were able to get some neat pictures of the different things he is studying.

We went to the Pilgrim Hall Museum which had many artifacts from the Pilgrims, a short video on why and how the Pilgrims came over and survived with the help of the Native Americans, and there was a small display of Dutch artifacts that the Pilgrims had since they lived in Leiden, Holland for 11 years before they came over on the Mayflower.

Then we walked through the quaint downtown area, which led us to the oldest house in America and the Oldest Street in America!

Jeff almost broke the spinning wheel (he tripped on it) in the oldest house, but we survived.

While walking, we came across an old working water mill owned by a Pilgrim, and we ate lunch in the little cafe! It was really neat and beautiful scenery!

We walked up a very long hill to the oldest burial point in America and then to Plymouth Rock, which you can see Cape Cod from. The rock has been broken up by the town government because of moving it and vandals, but it still rest in the same place with a new home over top of it to protect it!

And we also saw a replica of the original Mayflower, Mayflower II!

The day was beautiful and very relaxing! We hope you enjoy the pictures and take time to think of what you are thankful for today, and everyday!

Salem, MA

We planned on going to Salem last Saturday, but we decided to postpone it because of all the homework I had. So, after Beth got off work at noon, we drove north to Salem!

Our first stop was one of the various Witch museums (which was okay, not great); then we needed a snack!: Fried Dough, which is kind of like a funnel cake. Tasty!
And then to cemetery to find old gravestones.

We wandered around for a while, looking in some shops, until we stumbled upon the only remaining house directly related to the Witch Trails. When we got there, it was closed; but we got to take a picture of the outside!

After a few hours of walking (and getting very cold from the Autumn wind), we decided to take off, because we wanted to visit an old Mental Hospital in Danvers, MA. Last year, at Drew University, we watched s scary movie called "Session 9" that was filmed there; but, to our dismay, it had already been demolished and now contains an apartment complex. Below is an old picture of it I found on the Internet.

Supper at Qdoba and a quick stop at Starbucks for some warm drinks, and we were on our way home!

A Little Bit of This and A Little Bit of That

It has been a little bit since Jeff and I have updated, we have been busy with school and work. While taking a break, Jeff and I decided to take a walk by the reservoir near Boston College. It was a beautiful fall day and the leaves are starting to change, which made for some great scenery. We also spotted a few geese!!

We also wanted to share with you our little "Home Sweet Home"! Here are a few pictures of our apartment!
