This past weekend Jeff and I made our first visit to our new city...BOSTON! The drive was beautiful, and I fell in love with all the bridges in Connecticut and the scenic drives.
We reached Waltham, MA and took a tour of a possible apartment. The apartment has everything we need and a few added fun things like a pool, work out center, and free cookies everyday ( I think that was the clincher!). So Jeff and I have an apartment!
We visited Jeff's new school, Boston College, and ate our lunches. The campus is beautiful and seems to be a good fit for Jeff and I as we begin this new step in our adventure!
Then I had an interview, which was somewhat interesting. I have never had an interview where a dog was jumping on me and the interviewer answered personal phone calls during the interview. However, I felt confident with my answers, but I was not impressed with the interview itself. By the end of the day, we were exhausted and decided to go to our hotel.
We bought a GPS before we left so that we did not spend a lot of time and money being lost, however, driving in Massachusetts is a little crazy, and we missed some turns. Which got us lost, however, the GPS brought us back on track. But we seem to hit every toll booth that we could, ran out of cash, and needless to say we owe the Massachusetts Government a check for $1.25 :)
On Friday we ventured out to a Starbucks to possibly pick up some hours when we first get there. It was rainy and we had no quarters, but all the parking is metered. So I got quarters, we put one in, spent the time in Starbucks, and came out just in time to meet the meter maid who gave us a ticket for $15!!!! Yikes!
We visited Jeff's school again and looked through the bookstore. Then decided to drop my resume off at the Boston Children Hospital. We continued to drive through downtown Boston, saw the Cheers set, and ate lunch at this beautiful pond. At the pond a squirrel took a unique interest in Jeff and I and we became a spectacle for the people traveling on the swan boats! Jeff even shared his peanut butter sandwich with the squirrel.
On the way home our GPS took us on a new route which brought us directly into the Bronx and right over the George Washington Bridge. It was fun to see this bridge up close because I always saw it from the train and heard about it on traffic reports.
Overall, we had a great trip and it was a nice little vacation to get things figured out and to enjoy our new city! On a side note, our fish survived our absence and are still swimming strong!!
We hope you enjoy our pictures!
