Washington and Edison.

I worked for a few hours this morning. Around 11am, my parents came to our apartment and we went to Morristown, NJ--the place where Gen. George Washington made camp during the worst winter in recorded NJ history. We took a small tour of replica cabins, then drove five miles to where Washington stayed (with Martha and some of his officers).

After that, we drove to Edison, NJ in search of Thomas Edison's Mansion. The Laboratory has been closed for the past five years (because of renovations), but we were fortunate enough to be the only ones there for the tour. So, we could stay as long as we wanted at a given spot and ask questions. The house was built in the later 19th century by a man who lost it to bankruptcy; Edison moved in about two years after it was built. And we even got to see his garage and an original record player!

We went to The Olive Garden for supper, and when we returned to our apartment, we walked downtown for ice cream!

Beth's mom left yesterday and my parents leave tomorrow morning. It's been wonderful having them here!
