Happy January!

Last night, Beth and I went to Starbuck's Christmas party at a comedy club in New Brunswick, NJ. It was a first for both of us--some of it was funny, but other things we found rather crude and insensitive.

Today, my new laptop arrived, and I am having fun figuring out how to work it. With the arrival of my laptop comes the ability to watch a DVD that I ordered a few months ago. It's called "Into Great Silence," and I first heard about it while at St. John's Abbey last Spring. I overheard a couple of abbey guests talking about this new documentary that was coming out. A German film-maker had petitioned Le Grande Chartreuse, a Carthusian monastery in France to see if he could make a documentary about their monastic lives. And after twenty years, they finally agreed for him to come. The film was only shown in select cities, and I wasn't able to see it. But a few months ago it came out on DVD!

I was reading your blog to Darrick and Micah and I said there it a video about monks. Micah said," What do you mean monks? Chipmunks?" Yeah, we laughed too. And they he said the movie looks boring they just keep saying Iowa, Iowa, Iowa.

I'm curious -- What did you think of the video?
